Sourcefire Intrusion Prevention System Integrates with Bradford to Quickly and Automatically Take Action Against Malicious Activity and Policy Violations
CONCORD, NH, AUGUST 10, 2009 —
Open source innovator and Snort® creator, Sourcefire, Inc. (Nasdaq:FIRE), a leader in Cybersecurity, and Bradford Networks, the leading provider of advanced network access control (NAC) solutions, today announced that the companies have integrated the Sourcefire 3D® System with Bradford Networks’ Campus Manager and NAC Director ™ for automated remediation against potential attacks, vulnerabilities or policy violations. Through this collaboration, Sourcefire’s leading intrusion prevention system (IPS) with (RNA®) will alert Bradford’s network access control (NAC) solution to network events that require action or remediation, such as limiting network access or denying it all together.
The combination of leading technology from Sourcefire and Bradford enables users to easily monitor and respond to issues arising from unauthorized users, devices, access or activities. Specifically, this integration provides users with the following capabilities:
If the Sourcefire IPS detects a potentially malicious or compromised host inside the network, it can alert Bradford NAC Director or Campus Manager to quarantine that host.
If a host violates a Sourcefire compliance rule or white list, Bradford NAC Director or Campus Manager can quarantine that host.
“As networks are becoming more and more diverse, security teams are being tasked with enforcing policies on network segments they know little about,” said Gregg Bjork, CEO of Bradford Networks. “Sourcefire’s increased network intelligence enables our solution to take action against a much wider array of events than we would normally see, which is a huge advantage to customers who trust us to enforce policies on critical network segments.”
The combination of leading intrusion prevention capabilities and RNA visibility enable the Sourcefire 3D System to identify threats and changes in real-time, so that users can customize and continuously monitor security policies for increased protection. Bradford NAC Director automatically identifies authorized users, registered devices and verifies device compliance before granting network access. When Sourcefire and Bradford solutions work in parallel, organizations can achieve greater levels of protection against both internal and external threats.
“The Sourcefire 3D System is much more than an IPS; it provides users with increased visibility into the systems, users and traffic on the network,” said Matt McCormick, Vice President of Business Development at Sourcefire. “This integration with Bradford Networks provides customers the ability to leverage Sourcefire’s leading intrusion prevention and network intelligence capabilities for improved network protection and compliance policy enforcement.”
