Technology Industry Leader Brings Remarkable Record of Success and Business Savvy to RES Software – a Company Poised for Significant Growth
RES Software, the leading provider of User Workspace Management software, announced today that Klaus Besier has joined as Chairman of its Board of Directors.
Mr. Besier brings more than 30 years of technology industry experience to his new role having previously built and led the strategic direction of global software leader SAP America, Inc. as President and CEO. Under his leadership, SAP Americas grew from $50 million to $1 billion in revenues in less than five years. Following SAP, Besier served as President and CEO of Firepond Inc., which he took public in one of the most successful IPOs in 2000.
Most recently, as President and CEO of Neoware, Inc., Besier drove significant changes in the company’s go-to-market and partner strategies. This improved corporate structure led to significant growth and visibility – key factors that resulted in its acquisition by HP in 2007 with a total transaction value of more than $300 million. In addition to his work with RES Software, Besier is currently CEO and Chairman of Pramata, the enterprise contract intelligence company.
“We are delighted and proud to have Klaus Besier as Chairman of our Board of Directors,” said Erik Biekart, chief financial officer of RES Software. “Klaus Besier has exactly the right experience to further grow RES Software in a very focused manner particularly in terms of markets, solutions and partners. We will greatly benefit from his marketing expertise globally and specifically in the US marketplace. Together with Klaus Besier we are looking forward to building a great software company, with great people, solutions and customers.”
The User Workspace Management market is generating increasing attention as IT professionals and analysts recognize that the future of the desktop, including a mix of traditional workstations, thin clients, remote terminals and virtual desktops, carries with it a high degree of management complexity. Workspace Management software enables an enterprise to centrally manage end users’ personal workspace – the unique combination of personal desktop settings, security and administrative profile – separately from the users’ underlying applications, systems software and hardware. This greatly simplifies IT administration, ensures compliance and saves money.
“I am delighted to be joining RES Software, a company that I believe is ideally situated for tremendous growth in the coming year,” said Besier. “We will see dramatic changes to the core technologies on which organizations rely as virtualization, cloud computing and new desktop systems become even more critical as businesses continue to identify ways to reduce total cost of IT ownership. User Workspace Management is a key piece of this computing dynamic and RES Software has a clear opportunity to capitalize on these market trends and become the unparalleled industry leader.”
Mr. Besier will work closely with RES Software’s Board of Directors and executive team to drive the company’s global growth. In addition, RES Software investor Updata Partners, a leading US-based growth equity firm, and Jim Kirby, President of the Americas, will team with Mr. Besier, to expand the company’s U.S. presence. Mr. Besier and Mr. Kirby previously worked together at Neoware.
