RES Software announced the appointment of software industry leader Klaus Besier as Chief Executive Officer
AMSTERDAM, THE NETHERLANDS AND PHILADELPHIA, PA, APRIL 12, 2010 —
RES Software announced the appointment of software industry leader Klaus Besier as Chief Executive Officer, effective immediately. Mr. Besier joined RES Software as Chairman of the Board of Directors in October 2009 and has worked closely with the management team, employees and board since that time to drive the company’s rapid global expansion. Mr. Besier brings more than 30 years of technology industry experience to his new role, having previously built and led the strategic direction of global software leader SAP America, Inc. as its President and CEO. Under his leadership, SAP Americas grew from $50 million to $1 billion in revenues in less than five years. Following SAP, Mr. Besier served as President and CEO of Firepond Inc., which he took public in one of the most successful IPOs of 2000.
Previously, Mr. Besier served as President and CEO of Neoware, Inc., where he drove significant changes in the company’s go-to-market and partner strategies. This improved corporate structure led to significant growth and visibility for the organization – key factors that resulted in its acquisition by HP in 2007 with a total transaction value of more than $300 million. Most recently, Mr. Besier served as CEO and Chairman of the board of Pramata, the enterprise contracts intelligence company. In addition to his new role at RES Software, Mr. Besier will remain Chairman of Pramata’s board and serve as a board member of privately held ICG Commerce.
“I am pleased to formally join the executive team and lead RES Software,” said Mr. Besier. “RES Software’s opportunity is being driven by the huge changes and developing challenges in the new desktop infrastructure of thin clients, virtual clients, cloud services, laptops and desktops. With more than 2,500 global customers, and more than 1 million licenses sold worldwide, we have built an impressive track record and foundation for growth. There is a tremendous opportunity and demand for our solution and as a result, we expect to see significant expansion across all global markets.”
The user workspace management market is generating increasing attention as IT professionals and analysts recognize that the future of the desktop, including a mix of traditional workstations, thin clients, remote terminals and virtual desktops, carries with it a high degree of management complexity. User workspace management software enables an enterprise to centrally manage end users’ personal workspace – the unique combination of personal desktop settings, security and administrative profile – separately from the users’ underlying applications, systems software and hardware. This greatly simplifies IT administration, ensures compliance and saves money.
“We are proud to have an executive of Klaus’ caliber and experience leading RES Software,” said Bob Janssen, RES Software’s Founder and Chief Technology Officer. “Our company has the opportunity to define a new and fast growing category in infrastructure software, user workspace management, and we are confident that Klaus’ experience will be instrumental as we position ourselves to be the top global player.”
