Derek Langone is a 4-time CEO including scaling and exiting XebiaLabs, an Updata Partners portfolio company.  XebiaLabs rose to DevOps industry prominence by creating the markets only enterprise class end-to-end DevOps application pipeline.   XebiaLabs success created a rare opportunity to exit the same company twice; first to Susquehanna Growth/Accel and subsequently to TPG.

Prior to XebiaLabs Derek was the CEO of SmartBear software, a recognized leader in application performance, testing and analytics.  With a blend of efficient sales and marketing coupled with a laser focus on product innovation, SmartBear acquired meaningful market share from industry giants like IBM and HP, resulting in a successful acquisition by Francisco Partners.

Throughout Derek’s 25-year career, he acquired several founder lead companies and enjoyed the opportunity to teach those founders operational skills while in turn, learning product innovation and market targeting from his founder colleagues.  Derek brings that enthusiasm for mentorship to his role as an Operating Advisor.
