Austen Mulinder
Austen Mulinder is a technology company chairman, investor and company builder working with early-stage and growth-stage businesses across the US and Europe. He currently chairs four technology companies — 501 Fun, Matilda Cloud, Iiwari, and CONIQ — and serves as a non-executive director of FORRIT. Three were early-stage businesses when he became involved and have since established significant international customer bases, market positions and enterprise relationships. Most recently, Austen led the successful fundraising processes with Updata for both 501 Fun and Matilda Cloud.
Earlier in his career, Austen was CEO of Ziosk, which he led from a pre-revenue startup to the leader of the restaurant-tablet market it created, serving hundreds of millions of guests and processing more than $8 billion annually. Before Ziosk, he held several worldwide leadership roles at Microsoft, including Corporate Vice President positions spanning global sales, major enterprise customers, sales transformation and the Communications Sector. He also led the turnaround of Fujitsu’s retail business, repositioning it as a top-right-quadrant performer in the Gartner Magic Quadrant.
Austen’s work as a chairman spans strategy, CEO and leadership-team coaching, senior leadership recruitment, fundraising, governance, enterprise sales and operating performance. He works closely with founders, management teams and investors, helping companies build the leadership, operating discipline, and institutional relationships needed to scale. He has served on boards ranging from early-stage technology companies to established enterprises, has been involved in multiple successful exits, and splits his time between Los Angeles and London.
